Attendance & Make-Up Classes: Students should contact the office if they are not going to be present in class. Classes missed by students without prior notification to the office may not be made up. If a class is missed and the student wishes to attend a make-up class, arrangements should be made in advance by contacting the office to determine the day and time of a similar class. All missed classes must be made up in the semester in which the class was missed or will be forfeited.

Punctuality: Students must be regular and punctual in their class attendance. Students who arrive after the completion of warm-ups may be asked to observe that class at the discretion of the teacher. Students should be picked up within 5 minutes of the end of their class.

Canceled Classes: Classes may be canceled during the winter months due to the weather. However, we DO NOT follow the school closings of either Prince William County or Manassas City. An independent decision will be made prior to the start of classes and a cancellation notice will be placed on our voice mail message and our website (www.VaDanceCenter.com) once the decision to close has been made. Please call the office prior to leaving your home to determine whether your class has been canceled. Classes which are canceled due to the weather may be made up as described above.

Holidays: Holidays are listed in the calendar in this brochure. Classes scheduled for days on which holidays fall are accounted for in the payment schedule and therefore may not be made up.

Food and Drink: Food and drink, other than water, may not be taken into the dance studios or the changing area. Chewing gum is not permitted in the dance studios.

DISCOUNTS: Multiple Class & Family Discount: Discounts are available for students who are enrolled in multiple classes per week, as well as for families who have more than one immediate family member enrolled in multiple classes per week. See tuition rate chart for details.

Advance Payment: A 5% discount is available if payment for the entire dance year is made at the time of registration.

Unlimited Class Rate: Once a student is enrolled in 6 classes per week, there is no charge for additional classes. The unlimited rate per family (immediate family members only) is 8 classes per week. There is no charge for classes taken by immediate family members in excess of 8 per week.

FEES: Late Fees: There is a late charge of $10.00 per month for tuition which is paid more than 10 days after the due date. If tuition falls past due by more than 30 days, your child will be asked to observe class until payment is made. Please refer to the calendar for payment due dates. Tuition reminders will be posted in the studio approximately 2 weeks before tuition is due. No additional notice will be provided to you regarding due dates for tuition. It is your responsibility to be aware of these dates.

Returned Check Fee: A $25.00 fee will be charged to your account for any check which is returned by your bank for insufficient funds

REFUNDS: Enrollment in classes is for the entire dance year. Tuition and fees are non-refundable. Refunds will not be given for days missed due to absences, holidays or weather-related closings. Credit may be given in the event of a medical emergency and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

REGISTRATION FEE: New Students: A $20.00 registration fee is due upon registration for new students. The registration fee per family for new families is $30.00.

Returning Students: A $15.00 registration fee is due upon registration for returning students. The registration fee per family for returning families is $25.00.

PAYMENT: Upon registering with the Virginia Dance Center students are enrolling for the dance year, which runs from September, 2007-June, 2008. The year is divided into three 12-week semesters for payment purposes. Tuition for each semester is due as reflected in the calendar. Please refer to the calendar for payment due datesTuition reminders will be posted in the studio approximately 2 weeks before tuition is due. No additional notice will be provided to you regarding due dates for tuition. It is your responsibility to be aware of these dates.

MONTHLY PAYMENTS: Monthly payments are offered to those students who take multiple classes per week, as well as to families with two or more immediate family members enrolled in classes. A $3.00 monthly service charge will be added to your account.

AUTOMATED CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: If you have a credit card or bank check card that works like a credit card and would like to arrange for automated credit card payments each semester, just fill out the included form. We will automatically charge your account at the beginning of each semester so you won’t have to keep track of tuition due dates.

DANCE SHOES & LEOTARDS: We are pleased to announce that we sell Revolution Dancewear, a dancewear line that features dance shoes and leotards. These items are offered for sale exclusively to students of the Virginia Dance Center. We also sell Virginia Dance Center t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, dance pants, jackets and bags to our students.

VDC DANCE COMPANY: The VDC Dance Company is a student company comprised of dancers ages 9 and up who are dedicated to the art of dance. The company was established to give students insight into public performance. The company will perform locally throughout the year at such places as community events and dance competitions. Participation in the VDC Dance Company is by invitation only at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

Class Attire: Mandatory Dress Code

*Hair: A secure bun is required for all ballet classes at or above the Pre-Ballet 2 / Pre-Ballet/Jazz level.
A bun or ponytail is required for jazz and tap classes.

Jewelry: Students may not wear bracelets, watches, dangling earrings or necklaces into classes.

*Students appearing for class with other than the specified attire may be asked to observe that class at the discretion of the teacher.
